Evaluating Generation Considering All Plant Losses and Efficiencies

As reported in an independent study of PEPSE users, many customers by using the computational tool, have achieved the following cost-savings:

  • $3,500,000 saved on a planned boiler modification upgrade
  • $12,000,000 saved on a turbine replacement
  • Average operating cost savings of $250,000 per year.

RULES ENGINE  -  Automated Condition Assessment Technology

In support of the PdP and PMAX real-time monitoring applications, Scientech has developed an automated condition assessment application that utilizes pre-configured and/or user developed rules that provide insight into what the myriad of plant and process monitoring results indicate.  This automated assessment is performed when an exception condition is identified in the real-time monitoring applications.   The rules and calculations rely on actual monitored signals as related to the specific equipment component or system being assessed.

The background for this application is founded in the decision fault tree analysis methodology that is embraced by various utility organizations and Scientech’s nuclear safety risk assessment tool.  It is a true automated, on-line application, not a more common ‘look-up’ table concept.

Features of Scientech’s Rules Engine application include:

Adaptable to all types of plant components, rotating, non-rotating, electrical,...
